Google Emitts Carbon Dioxide When Searched

Google Carbon DioxideAlex Wissner-Gross at Harvard University in his latest researchs found out that when ever someone search on Google, the servers emitt 7grams of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the air. In comparison to it other sources tell that boiling a kettle generates around 15g of CO2. We might think it is quite less when we compare it to a small car which emitts 268grams of carbon dioxide per person per mile.

But Google claims that they are into green technology and their environment is atmosphere friendly. So I was just imaging that how much Google is used in a daily life of a person sitting on a computer. If I just talk about myself, I think I google on average 3 to 4 times per hour. If I say around 100million users are searching on google so it makes 300million searches per hour.

My rough estimate is:
300million x 7 grams = 2100million grams = 21,00,000 kilograms

Wow! So 21,00,000 kilograms of Carbon Dioxide is emitted in the air every hour by Google.
